Choosing the Right Compost

Premium compost, used in conjunction with soil aeration, dramatically improves field safety for athletes at every level. Field surfaces are often linked to sports injuries, but when maintained properly with compost, field hardness decreases and reduces the chance of injury.

McGill SportsTurf is made with the same materials as our premium SoilBuilder compost but is finished with a finer screen to allow for year-round application, even during playing season.

McGill SportsTurf can be applied to all aspects of golf courses – from roughs and fairways to landscaping and even divot mixes – to increase soil cation exchange capacity (CEC) for slow-release performance.

Use Instructions

  • Apply SportsTurf annually at up to 2 inches per year to replenish topsoil and maintain peak condition
  • Use as a topdressing by raking a quarter inch of SportsTurf into the turf surface before seeding to quicken growth
  • Mix SportsTurf and seed together for blower truck applications
