Managing game land with compost

Wild pig on compost-managed game land “captured” by Ruth King while touring with Johnnie Dale, owner of Buffalo Creek Guide Service.

Using compost in the management of game land was a new one for us.  Compost sales rep, Ruth King, breezed through the office the other day talking it.  Two customers were using compost for managing this type of natural environment.
We just had to dig a little deeper.
Seems compost use is nothing new to the folks who manage such properties. Check out this article about Lincoln Sadler.  He received an award from the NC Chapter of The Wildlife Society back in 2005. His ideas included compost use at the Sandhills Game Land.
At the hunting camp of Buffalo Creek Guide Service, compost grows corn. It also enhances natural habitat.  Another customer uses compost on property managed for quail.
